Outlook Pals

As part of our mission to broaden students’ worldview, one of our main initiatives is the Outlook Pals (1+1+1) Program, connecting one American high-school/college student, one Chinese high-school/college student, and one elementary student in rural China. Through weekly or biweekly calls, the three students discuss their different lifestyles, from metropolis to mountain village, gaining first-hand understanding of life beyond their own bubbles. Not only can the older students refine their English and Chinese speaking skills, but the three-way conversation broadens each of their horizons and creates new, long-lasting friendships. Ultimately, IOF’s Outlook Pals Program seeks to create a network of youth from various walks of life across the globe to learn and grow from each other and gain a fuller understanding of the world.
